Frequently Asked Questions

 

1) My certificate says that the redemption period ends on January 1, 2011. Does that mean that I just have to send in my request by January 1, 2011?
No. It means that travel must be completed by that date. We will require some lead time to facilitate the booking of your reservation. Unless specifically stated on your certificate, you must mail your request at least 35 days prior to your earliest requested arrival date.

 

2) Do you have any blackout dates for these certificates?
Only on Fly Away certificates will you find blackout dates due to increased costs on holiday travel. All others do not have blackout dates. However, due to some special events, there may not be availability for Capitol Marketing reservations at all destinations for all dates. If this occurs, you will be given your second choice of destination.

 

3) I just found my certificate since we just finished unpacking from our move. The only vacation time I have before the expiration date is next week. Can I make this reservation even though my certificate says I must request travel at least 35 days in advance?
No. You must follow all guidelines to travel printed on your certificate.

 

4) How do I make a reservation?
In each package there is a reservation request form and Guideline form. Fill out both forms, sign them, and mail or fax them into our office at CMC. (If your promotion includes a debit card, you will also have to fill out that form and send it in.) If your vacation requires a deposit, you need to mail the deposit (certified check or money order) and the signed forms to our office. After we receive the paperwork, one of our travel specialists will call you in 2-3 weeks to make all the arrangements with you.

 

5) Can anyone use the vacation?
The travelers must at least 21 years old. If a person is under 21 years old, they may travel if the other person is 21 years old.

 

6) Can I upgrade the vacation?
Yes, for cruises you can add on dates and/or upgrade the cabin. For land packages, you can add additional nights, people, airfare, etc. You can also book additional cabins for the cruise packages or rooms for hotel packages.

 

7) Do I have to give advance notice before I travel?
Yes. For land packages that do not include airfare, we need 35 days advance notice. For packages that include airfare, we need 60 days advance notice, and all of our cruise packages require 90 days advance notice.

 

8) Are there cancellation fees?
Yes. Everything is clearly stated in the Guidelines section of your reservation request form.

 

9) Can I use two certificates at the same time?
Certificates must be mailed in individually and are not valid for “group” travel. Two certificates may not be used back to back to create a longer trip.

 

10) What happens if the reservation form is lost in the mail?
Before you mail the form, please make a photo copy or, at the very least, write down the certificate number and access code in the upper right corner. If a reservationist does not contact you within 2-3 weeks of mailing your certificate, please contact CMC at (800) 238-5659.
